Jay Rolfe and family arrived home in Canton, Mich., about 3 o’clock Monday morning after their trip to Newark to see the University of Louisville soccer team defeat Providence 3-2 on penalty kicks after two overtimes in the Big East championship Sunday.

Hence the delay in the photos. But as usual, Jay got the good stuff. And, yes, he is Colin Rolfe’s dad.

Louisville’s Colin Rolfe catches a nasty elbow to the side of his head from Providence defender George Hodge. The hit sent Rolfe to the ground where he was in severe pain for over four minutes. No foul was called on the play, which occurred with the score tied 0-0 with over five minutes to play in regulation.

Two minutes after play resumed Rolfe was back to his old self, making life miserable for Louisville soccer opponents. He gets off the kick that would put UofL up 1-0. The really great news is that Rolfe is only a junior. Louisville finished the regular season with a 16-0-2 won-loss-tied record and No. 1 in the country in the polls. (Photos by Jay Rolfe)
