If he’s normal, Doug Beaumont has to wonder sometimes whether he made the right decision.

Coming out of Male High School, he was ranked the No. 1 football player in Kentucky, a four-star prospect, catching 189 passes for 2,801 yards, 22 touchdowns. He had all kinds of college scholarship offers, including one from Lexington.

Going into his senior season at the University of Louisville, however, Beaumont has yet to see the end zone.

Too bad quarterback Adam Froman didn’t see him wide open in the end zone on U of L’s final drive against Kentucky. The jinx would have finally been shattered.

To be fair, Froman found Beaumont on three passes for 40 yards Saturday. But there were numerous other oversights. Beaumont is the only receiver, other than Cameron Graham (three for 38 yards), who has proven to be a reliable receiver.

Beaumont should be at the top of the check-off list. He hasn’t seen the end zone in four years, but he knows how to get there.

Get Doug Beaumont the ball, put the second guessing behind him.

  1. Beaumont, Cameron Graham, the Smith kid are all pretty good receivers. The quarterback needs to get the ball to them.

  2. We have a lot of Browns (Preston, Daniel, & Dominique) on our team, but Cameron isn’t one of the 😉 I think you meant Cameron Graham.

    1. MAYBE the best receiver? How about the only healthy wideout who actually has a track record of catching objects thrown in his direction.

      How about the ONLY

      1. Oops. Sent by accident before completing. Let’s say “How about the ONLY receiver” until someone else steps up.

  3. I think the coach and team and fans should stop talking about get Beaumont the TD. If I am the opposing team I would be bating UL to throw to Beaumont and always looking for him when UL is in the Redzone.
