Something special happening in baseball, guys.

Now that Samardo Samuels has made his decision, Justin Coleman and Elisha Justice have signed their letters of intent, and Gorgui Dieng’s signed commitment is hopefully winding its way here from West Africa, maybe basketball can be put to rest for a while.

Doubtful but there’s always hope.

  • With Wednesday’s 10-8 win over Ohio State, the University of Louisville baseball team is 7-0 against Big Ten competition this season. The win was the fifth straight for U of L over the Buckeyes.
  • Seems to be a new hero in every game, this time Ryan Wright with the honors banging out three hits in five at-bats while driving in three runs.
  • A 38-7 won-lost record is Louisville’s best 45-game record during coach Dan McDonnell’s four seasons. The 2010 record is six games better than last year’s 32-13 mark, seven games better than the 2007 College World Series team’s 31-14 record and nine games better than the 29-16 mark in 2008.
  • Louisville is ranked seventh in two national polls and one game behind UConn in the Big East Conference race.

U of L next travels to Georgetown University this weekend for a three-game series.
