Better be a subscriber to Cards TV if you want to hear the Louisville-Georgetown baseball game Friday, starting at 7 p.m. Don’t count on KOOL-1570 where the reception is terrible after 5 p.m.

KOOL does not even cover road games. That’s why fans tuning in for the U of L-Ohio State game Wednesday afternoon were in for another disappointment. The station was playing oldies music, not the game with a Big Ten opponent.

Charlie Strong is reportedly having discussions with Zach Mettenberger, a redshirt freshman quarterback, who was recently dismissed from the University of Georgia football team for alleged violations. If Mettenberger decides to play at U of L, he would not be eligible until the 2011 season. The first opponent in 2011 is, you guessed it, Georgia.

Stefan Lefors, former University of Louisville quarterback, is back in town. Lefors, who spent three seasons in the Canadian Football League, most recently with Winnipeg, suffered an injury to his non-throwing arm. He will be among several former college football players participating in free football clinics for middle school players and coaches on May 22 at Kentucky Country Day, 4100 Springdale Road.

Lefors reportedly has returned to work at U of L. However, the switchboard operator in the athletic department said he was not listed in her directory.

Antoine Walker, former Kentucky and NBA player, working out with U of L players to get back in shape for a possible return to the league. One has to wonder why he didn’t do in Lexington where they have special expertise in sending players to the NBA [sarcasm].

  1. Let me get this straight…we have Cards Radio…790 AM…something or another on the FM dial and they’re doing Cincinnati Reds games instead of Cardinal baseball?

    I rest my case…

  2. Totally agree Charlie! I sent an email to Garett Wall at UL with my displeasure of !M-1570 carrrying the UL baseball games. Apparently, they do not cover any AWAY games. VERY DISAPPOINTING!! I stressed in my email that this needs to change! I had to listen to the UL-UK game on AM-1080 with the UK call of the game due to AM-1570 losing it’s signal after 5pm! THAT’S A JOKE! This issue needst to be addressed before the start of next season. Thanks for bringing this to light so ALL Cardinal fans can voice their concern for broadcasts of UL Baseball. CARD FANS, let the Athletic Department know by emailing: g.wall@louisville.edu
