The Belk Bowl it is.

Taking place in 73,778-seat Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL Carolina Panthers.

The more we learn about the bowl, the more we like it, although it could still be argued that the University of Louisville football team should be returning to Miami for another Orange Bowl, by virtue of having defeated West Virginia. Somewhat disappointing but the Belk Bowl is a nice consolation prize.

Great stadium in a thriving city, an eight-hour drive.

A decent opponent in North Carolina State, with an identical 7-5 won-lost record, won five of its last seven games. The Wolfpack closed out the season with a 37-13 win over No. 7 Clemson and a pasting of Maryland, 56-41.

Charlie Strong, as he promised last week, will have his team ready to play.

  1. It’s an easy drive from Louisville. A great stadium. Should be a lot of fun. I hope Card fans make the trip — I know there will be Wolfpack fans everywhere.

Charlie – who has the home game in this one? Wondering what the uniform colors wil be – both schools are red/white.

  2. I’m from Louisville originally, and have lived in Charlotte for 10 years – and I make the trip back and forth several times a year. You can easily make the trip in 7 hours and it’s a very easy drive. Come on down and see the Cards! You won’t regret it.

  3. This will be a fun trip to a new place. I am ordering my tickets tomorrow. I could not be more excited that we have a bowl game to look forward to!! Beat N.C. State!
