A much-deserved shout out to Anna DeBeer of the University of Louisville volleyball team for being selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Player of the Week.

The talented freshman led the Cardinals to a 3-1 win over Pittsburgh, snapping Pitt’s 37-game home winning streak dating back to 2017.

DeBeer, who played her high school volleyball at Assumption, recorded 22 kills on a .395 hitting percentage in the win. At Assumption, she led her team to the Kentucky High School State Championships in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Making the win much sweeter was the Cardinals’ gained revenge two days after getting blanked 3-0 at UofL’s L&N Arena.

The match concluded the fall portion of the schedule shortened by the Covid-19 pandemic. UofL has a 5-2 won-lost record. Play will resume in the spring, schedule is still being developed by the NCAA and ACC.
