Sunday’s game against Marquette is a “White Out”.

Can’t imagine Rick Pitino wearing the familiar white suit this time around.

The act has gotten a little stale for an individual who seems fancy himself a male fashion piece, fastidiously following the Dress for Success guidelines. If it is indeed the same wardrobe he’s worn the past four years, he may even consider it outdated and be ready for something new.Screen Shot 2013-01-29 at 8.45.34 PM

The white suit may be too much of a distraction for a team that has lacked focus in some recent games, a team needing to improve field goal and free throw shooting percentages, to get better at blocking out, to get out on three-point shooters.

One has to be in a certain frame of mind to subject oneself to comparisons with Colonel Sanders. Having just suspended a player and lost three of the last four games, he may not want to be subjected to the jokes that accompany the look.

Pitino wore the suit for the first time against sixth-ranked Georgetown in February 2008. Trailing by eight points at the intermission, he switched to a dark suit for the second half in a 59-41 win.

A white warmup outfit, custom-designed, tailored by adidas, is our prediction this time around. Donate the white suit to an auction. Some worthy charity will get three or four hundred bucks, providing a happy ending for everybody involved.

  1. It’s the Lady Cards that play Saturday, at 2pm, Georgetown. Did I hear one of them say, “If we don’t shoot the lights out, we’ll leave the lights on for the guys.” Come to the Yum for a fun afternoon. Go Cards!
