The NCAA basketball tournament selection committee was apparently out to lunch all weekend, giving little heed to what was going on in the conference tournaments. Or for that matter, what occurred over the last two months of the season.

Without getting into the who beat who twice, were ranked ahead of who in the national polls, ahead in the conference standings and who advanced further in the conference tournament, let’s just say it’s pretty obvious the selection committee didn’t roll up its collective sleeves and do the job. Just a chance to get away from the office, a fun weekend, nothing to it. While they were out partying, an administrative assistant was doing the brackets.

Or as ESPN analyst Jay Bilas put it:

“I wonder if some people on the committee know whether the ball is round. That sounds harsh. But I’m wondering. These were bad decisions. They’re indefensible.”

  1. Yea that Karma thing you spoke of was so true huh?
Go Cats!! don’t blame the seeding the Cats aren’t!

  2. The bottom line is none of these people are basketball people. There are two AD’s from basketball schools but that is the closest they come. The make up of the committee is a joke.

And I hope I don’t get banned from this site but in truth UK got screwed a lot worse than any other team that made the field. Florida a 2 and UK a four is worse than the no call on Sparks’ walk before the foul (?) on his three.

    1. Cbcard, we couldn’t do without our point guard. Have to agree with you about UK getting the shaft but it’s difficult to feel sorry for them, lots of karma involved in their sad luck but probably not enough.

  3. Good for JB. And thanks for letting everyone know their contact info. Maybe with a flood of emails they will try a little harder next time or pass the job off to somebody else with more competence.
