Sean Moth, PA Announcer: The name of the overpass that crosses by Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium should be referred to by its formal name – Denny Crum Overpass in honor of the legendary basketball coach, not Central Avenue Overpass.

Greg Brohm, Director of Football Operations: Someone needs to be responsible for seeing that the player bus arrives for Cardinal March on time, not 10 minutes early, causing numerous fans to miss the sendoff. Somebody also muffed the pre-game musical fanfare, too, by the way.

Dr. Greg Byrnes, Band Director: The band seems to disappear for long stretches during games. Nice job before the game and at halftime but that’s only half the job. Good college bands should be a factor during game action, getting fans revved up, keeping them revved up. See Marching Mountaineer Band.

Unknown Cheerleader: That C-A-R-D-S cheer you do with the microphone right before the games is not working. Has never worked since this miserableattempt at a tradition was started several years ago. Some “traditions” are meant to be broken, let this one die. Study what other schools do before games.

UofL fans often do a slow burn over some of these things. Game after game, it gets old, making the perpetrators look incompetent, amateurish, clueless or, even worse, apathetic and uncaring.

  1. And they could bring back that loud cannon for right before an opposing kicker tries to kick a game winning field goal 🙂

  2. Why not blow the train whistle when the opponents are in a third down situation? Nobody else has one.

  3. On a similar note, that death bell bong some home teams sound when opponents are facing a third-down situation is getting old. Our band and/or jumbotron needs to come up with something original for our home games, also. The train whistle is great, as are the fireworks. Just hope we get to experience them many, many more times this season!

  4. Couldn’t agree more about the cheerleader with the microphone crap. That stuff has to go, I cringe when I hear it.
