Never played soccer in his life. Didn’t care for it.

These days, however, he arrives early at University of Louisville soccer games in his 2005 Dodge Sprinter camper, parking right across the street from the stadium on Floyd Street.

Jay Rolfe, who works for Ford in Dearborn, Mich., has logged hundreds of miles to catch his son, Colin, in action, rarely missing a UofL match. His faithful companions are two well-behaved Tan Retriever dogs, keeping watch in the van the during matches.

Hanging from his neck is a Canon digital camera as he roams the sideline. The man has taken literally of photos of UofL soccer games since his son joined the team three seasons ago. Currently, there are 27,686 shots of Louisville soccer action over at Web Shots.

“Colin loves the game,” he said, adding in an understatement, “I enjoy watching him play.”

Watch for Jay on the sideline with his camera Saturday at 7 p.m.when UofL meets West Virginia in Big East Tournament play.
