Four or five radios in the homestead, all shapes and sizes, including a High Def model, but only one allowing us brief updates on the Louisville-Pittsburgh baseball game: The one we got at a Big Lots 25 years ago.

Breaking through the heavy static on WNDA-1570 AM is the made-for-radio voice of Sean Moth proclaiming,

“Cards Win!”

A 6-5 12 inning affair at Pitt, Louisville getting the winning run with a bases-loaded base on balls to Stewart Ijames. The win elevates U of L into a first place tie with St. John’s, which lost 4-1 to Seton Hall earlier in the day.

Major contribution from Derek Self, shutting Pitt down in the final two innings.

Two games remaining, the drama continues Friday at 6 p.m.

Don’t depend on Gametracker. It wasn’t working. Expect static, lots of it, for a twilight game broadcast.

  1. Gametracker worked fine for me. I live in southern Jeff. county & my car radio wouldn’t even pick the game up.

    1. I couldn’t get Gametracker to work (stuck in pregame mode) until I opened the scoreboard at the top of the page, then clicked on the Louisville/Pitt score. After that, it worked great, almost in real time.

  2. “Cards Win!”, That’s all we need to hear. I got in my car and drove around until I got better reception. I ended up at some Presbyterian church on Chamberlain Ln. Let out a few celebratory claps and got some White Castles to cap it off. Time for the Cardinal Softball 9 to get some big wins this weekend as well!
