Believe it or not …

One of the first rules in the coaching profession must be take care of your own.

How else to make sense of the report from ESPN3 that Steve Kragthorpe has been hired as offensive coordinator at LSU, replacing Gary Crowton who left to take a similar position at Maryland.

LSU football coach Les Miles is hoping that Kragthorpe arrival will improve the team’s quarterback play. Last season LSU was 11-2 and ranked 107th in passing.

Wouldn’t you like to have been there when Kragthorpe explained away his three seasons at the University of Louisville?

    1. No Fran is so so so so so wrong. And SK wasn’t nearly the great guy many people have portrayed him to be. I know that both from people connected to the football program and from one personal observation.

  1. Then all the DC’s have been having orgasm’s since Matt Flynn graduated..because LSU has been struggling with developing young QB’s since then.

Kragthorpe failed as a head coach at Louisville. All of his prior stops were successful ones. LSU did not hire him to be their head coach. Petrino left him with Brohm for one year..and basically left nothing else.

    1. Please note that the offense put up declining numbers in each of Kragthorpe’s years at UofL. And he was the defacto OC his second year (he admitted to overruling Brohm’s calls 50% of the time) and was the OC his last year.

Some guys are capalbe position coaches but are not capable above that level.

      1. Blame it on kragthorpe all you like. The reality is that the offensive talent level fell off significantly at Louisville after 2007. You have to replace talent with talent and Petrino did not leave the program well stocked for the post brohm era.

        1. FALSE. Do any of these names look familiar?
Victor Anderson, Darius Ashley, Doug Beaumont, Mario Benavides, Hunter Cantwell, Josh Chichester, Trent Guy, Cameron Graham, Scott Long, Bilal Powell, Mark Wetterer.

I think these guys might have something to say regarding the old bare cupboard argument. Thanks for playing Ms. Kragthorpe.
