As if the Arkansas football situation couldn’t get any more murky.

John L. Smith is rushing back to Fayetteville, taking over another major football program. He will fill in on an interim basis for the departed Bobby Petrino, his former assistant at Louisville and former boss at Arkansas.

Razorback running back Knile Davis called it the happiest day of his life, “hearing John L. Smith is coming back to Fayetteville to be our head coach.”

Maybe so. Not so for Weber State where Smith had been hired as head coach for next season, leaving them in the lurch.

Weber State athletic director Jerry Bovee said the “timing of this announcement is problematic” but the school would move forward.

Not a big deal. Weber State just happens to be where Smith played college football, one of the “loyal sons” and all.

Wonder if John L. even knows the words to Weber State’s alma mater?

  1. I am guessing that Booby Pinocchio learned the cut and leave offense from John L(eaving on a jet plane) Smith.
