Clint-HurttWe knew it was coming. Decision day was inevitable.

The Year of the Cardinal appears to be running out quickly this past week, what with the Chane Behanan banishment from the basketball team and the shocking loss to Central Florida in football.

Defensive line coach Clint Hurtt’s fate with the University of Louisville football team will be finally be known Tuesday, two or three years after the investigation into the Miami program started.

The big Hurtt is alleged to have received and provides impermissible benefits to recruits while an assistant at Miami. The NCAA also alleges that he provided false and misleading information to investigators, accusations that amount to 10.1 unethical conduct rule violation. A news conference is scheduled at 11 a.m.

These investigations take so long that the penalties always harm innocent parties with no connections at all the misdeeds. In this case, the University of Louisville. Time served waiting for a long drawn-out investigation and decision is never a consideration.

His departure would be a major loss to the program. If he has to leave the team, let’s hope he continues to call Louisville home. Hurtt has much to offer.
