[stextbox id=”custom”] One of the most distinctive pieces in the observer’s man cave is a football helmet signed by former UofL coach Bobby Petrino.

While Petrino was never revered as a man because of his wandering eye, he was respected for his genius in his chosen profession and for what he accomplished while at Louisville, winning a Big East championship and the BCS Orange Bowl. Quite a thrill that last game under his direction.

Which brings us to the primary reason for this post. Football helmets from the 2011 UofL football season are on sale now in the football office. One can be obtained for $250 by contacting Vicky Nugent at 852-8758.

Tightwad observer will get Charlie Strong, a better man with equally high aspirations, to sign his existing helmet. Overdue, now that we think of it. [/stextbox]

  1. Will InfraRed spread to the gridiron? They could make for better passing targets! The InfraRed helmets could be metalized, as well! The boys would fit rignt in with the gang at the custom auto shows.

    1. I’m okay with it, Tom. But I’ve always been color blind, with the red, green, orange, brown combinations. As long as they don’t start putting ads on uniforms.

  2. Hope this means that we got some cool new helmets AND that we get some dynamite black ones too to wear with our black unis…..go Cards (beat kentucky)
