Been a long, long time since a junior college player has had much of an impact on University of Louisville basketball.

But Chris Jones, the latest, a 5-foot-ll guard transfer from NW Florida State is creating quite a bit of excitement. He originally committed to play at Tennessee but decommitted when Bruce Pearl departed. Here’s what his coach Steve Forbes, a former UT assistant, says about Jones:

“Chris Jones is one of the most competitive kids I’ve ever coached. He won a championship in high school. He played in the junior-college title game last year. And he’s put himself in a position to play for a national championship in college.

“He can do a lot of things well. He can really score. He can distribute. He’ll do anything to win.”

A Memphis native, Jones led his team to a 32-2 record, and averaged 18 points, five rebounds and five assists. .
