Second largest crowd in school history.

A total of 55,106 fans in attendance at the University of Louisville-Cincinnati football game last Friday.

Equally impressive was how attentive the overwhelming majority of fans seemed to be. Most were in their seats from kickoff until half time.

Charlie Strong noticed:

“I challenged the fans and they came out and made a big difference Friday night. It was really great to see people come out and support the program the way they did.”

Credit should be given to the U of L officials who set up the express lanes outside of the turnstiles, enabling fans to pass through quickly while getting tickets bar coded. Signs were also posted outside the main entry way, pointing in the direction of less congested gates.

Still taking too long for people to return after halftime, however. The lines are long and slow at the concession stands and in the restrooms. That was the reason given by a fan to my left, returning to his seat five minutes into the second half. One would hope the same U of L officials who helped to alleviate the entry problems were taking notes in the concourse.

  1. Smooth sailing for us Friday night thru Gate 2. Less than a 3 minute wait once we arrived at the gate and we were in our seats 22 minutes before kickoff. Concession lines and restrooms not bad at all behind the lower level Crunch Zone area.
