Charlie Strong was the first to sample the new Charlie Strong UL-timate Chicken Sandwich, which was added to the Champions Sports Bar & Grill at the Downtown Marriott over the weekend. The new item includes grilled barbecue chicken on a whole wheat bun with choice of a special slaw topping or tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber. 
The University of Louisville football coach developed a fondness for a similar menu item while staying at the hotel after he moved to town.
“I stayed here and would come down every night and have a chicken sandwich,” he said. “We were trying to find ways to give back to the community, so we came up with the idea to put a chicken sandwich on the menu and give a portion of the proceeds to Kosair Children’s Hospital.”
Looks like Rocco Gasparro (left in background), football sports information guru, is getting ready to sample a sandwich as well.
