Steve Springer (top left), winner of Volvo’s Biggest Fan of the Big East contest, and family members pause for a moment at Louisville’s Regional International Airport en route to New York City for the Big East Championship basketball tournament. With him (from left) are Mackenzie Phelps, Randy Phelps, baby Dominic Springer and his wife Casey. They will be staying at The New Yorker hotel, just across the street from Madison Square Garden. They will be on hand when the University of Louisville basketball team takes on Notre Dame in the semifinal game Friday.

  1. Someone needs to get a CARDS chant echoing through the garden tomorrow night!! I am looking directly at you Steve, have a great time!

  2. for someone who just won a car and a trip to NYC he doesnt smile much! lets see a big ol’ I got a new car grin Steve! 🙂 Congrats to you and your family.

  3. How cool is that family photo! Will the whole family get to be down on the court—or at least be courtside—when Steve is presented as the winner? That would certainly be extra special and deserved, not only for their efforts made in competing in the contest but, perhaps more importantly, because of what they have experienced with MacKenzie’s illness this past year.

Cherish every moment, Steve and Charlie! We look forward to your reports (and videos?) next week. I also hope Volvo puts up videos of the event on the contest website.
