With all the injuries and attrituion that have come his way in recent seasons, Rick Pitino was wise to over- prepare for contingencies, stocking the roster with 18 basketball players for the upcoming season.
His first player loss occurred Friday when it became public notice that incoming Kevin Ware has not even enrolled this fall at the University of Louisville. He failed to meet initial NCAA eligibility requirements and a waievr and appeal have been denied.
Now Ware is working to become eligible for the second semester.
“I’ve never seen anyone this close to being eligible,” said U of L Coach Rick Pitino. “He is just fractions away and he fully intends to enroll here.”
But Pitino remains prepared for any eventuality.
