Just what the doctor may have ordered for University of Louisville basketball.

Gorgui Dieng.

The towering  6-foot-10, 205- pound center from Huntington, W.Va., announced Monday that he’s coming to Louisville, joining the 2010 class.

Dieng was a huge hit with U of L fans during the recent Derby Festival Classic, scoring 15 points, seven rebounds and eight blocked shots.

Dieng was a citizen of Senegal in West Africa before coming to the United States a couple of years ago, switching sports from soccer to basketball.

  2. I hope he puts on 30 pounds before the season — at 6’10” and just over 200 pounds, he’ll get beat up in the Big East.

  3. yes sir hell of an athlete and great potential. Maybe he could tutor coleman? Haha just kidding GO CARDS!

  4. That is great news, Charlie. U of L needed a “win” in the recruiting battle. Good decision for that young man…welcome to Louisville! Go CARDS!

  5. I think Deing has the ability to start at center for UL and I’ve heard that Samardo always wanted to play the 4 spot….maybe this will help Samrdo reconsider a potentially poor decision.

    1. Unfortunately, I’m afraid that Samardo is being led by his family who really want/need to cash in on their son having an NBA career sooner rather than later. I hope in the end Samardo does what will be best for his future.

      1. As I said in another forum, I’m declaring myself eligible too. I think Samardo and I have approximately equal chances of being drafted.
