Arrive Laguardia late the day before the game, retrieve the conference trophy, return to the hotel, eat dinner, sleep, eat breakfast, play basketball at noon. No distractions (where is DC anyway?) this time around, the focus where it needs to be this trip.
Along the way, find an inside game. Earl Clark playing closer to the basket, finding Samardo Samuels, getting the favor returned, dominating inside. Important getting these two off to a good start in tournament play, taking some pressure off Terrence Williams in big games, each one bigger than the last.
- If this same Earl Clark keeps showing up, good things will continue to happen. Don’t wait to go to pro ranks before tapping a bit of that exalted potential.
- Samardo, by the way, is looking more and more like he did in pre-season exhibition games, except that this time it’s for real. Never changes expressions, expects to get the job done even when he doesn’t. That makes him a gamer.
- Terrence Williams, all but taking the day off shooting and rebounding, getting a mediocre game out of his system. Six points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals, yeah, that’s a mediocre day for the T-Will.
- Andre McGee was literally running circles around the Providence guards at times, literally running figure eights on a couple of occasions. Anyone else want to see McGee take more shots?
- Preston Knowles is the prototype of the guard you expect to see on a team going deep in the NCAA Tournament. Needs to find his league-leading three-point shooting percentage quickly.
Back to the hotel, guys. No distractions.

I just heard on ESPN2 Seth Davis( aDuke allum) say on the “Mike &Mike” show that UofL is the most overated basketball team in the U.S.
I wouldn’t get too worked up about any Seth Davis comments, just one man’s opinion. What counts is what happens on the hardwood.

No Worry about Villanova.
We always have a terrible time shooting the 3 in MSG. But this is a team that seems to learn quickly. So tomorrow night should be a different story. Hopefully our 3 pt defense is up to the task of holding Villanova in check. If we can we win by 10.

Good to get a T-Will and three point shooting clunker out of the way. We’ll need both against a Nova team that squeaked by Marquette today.
Sam Sam is the Big East rookie of the Year. Another case of blatant “good ol boy” Big East voting giving it to a guy on a charter member team. Same goes for Jay Wright getting coach of the year.
What scared me is our 3 point shooting. We shot 3-19 and almost all of the 19 were wide open. Preston seems to have lost his touch over the last four or so games. We need to hit those against Nova.
