The University of Louisville men’s basketball roster has undergone a major make over since that 28th loss of the 2022-23 campaign, going down as one of the worst ever with only four wins.

Kenny Payne is returning next season despite a grim won-lost record. He will never admit it but he had a severe shortage of talent and instincts during his first season. His actions speak louder than words with the UofL coach purging much of the roster.

Wednesday, April 12th, was the first day of the national letter-of-intent signing period which runs through May 17th. Louisville received commitments from Dennis Evans, Trentyn Flowers, Skyy Clark, and Koran Davis. They join a class that also includes Kaleb Glenn and Curtis Williams, Jr. who signed last fall.

Profiles on Wednesday’s signees:

Evans is a 7-foot-1 pivot man from Riverdale, Calif., where he averaged 14.7 points, 10.6 rebounds and 5.9 blocks as a senior.

“We are blessed to add one of the most unique high school players in the country,” said Payne. “He’s an elite defensive player with unbelievable skill. He’s also a tremendous human being that has the character and the discipline that we sorely need in this program.”

Flowers is a 6-foot-8 forward. He averaged 15.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and shot 45% from the floor and 33% from 3-point range during his junior season at Combine Academy in Lincolnton, NC.

“Trentyn is one of the most talented young players – regardless of class – in the country,” Payne said in another statement. “He’s an elite athlete with a very good basketball IQ. He has a bright future in his game and has the discipline and work ethic to be a great basketball player. He’s as excited as we are for him to be a part of this basketball program.”

Clark is a 6-foot-3 guard transferring from Illinois where he averaged 7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game during his freshman season.

“We are fortunate to have an elite guard in Skyy,” said Payne. “He is very gifted, but more importantly, has the character to be a Louisville Cardinal. “His ability to score, distribute and run a basketball team as a leader is what we need.”

Koran Davis is a 6-foot-7 guard from Los Angeles Southwest Community College where he averaged 23.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and had 1.4 steals per game. He connected 48 percent of his sh0ts from the field and 33 percent behind the 3-pont line.

“Koran is a multidimensional talent that can be effective in positions 1-3,” Payne said. “He has a knack for scoring at all three levels while also being able to rebound and make plays for teammates at a high level. He possesses length and athleticism suitable for the Atlantic Coast Conference.”

The current UofL recruiting class is ranked sixth in the nation by basketball recruiting analysts at 247 Sports behind Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State, Connecticut and Kansas.
