So which Syracuse football team should the University of Louisville expect this Saturday in Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium?

The one that spanked WVU by 20+ points last week? Or the one that lost to USC by 21, Rutgers by three and barely squeaked by Rhode Island by seven?

At 5-2, the Orange don’t exactly strike fear into Cardinal fans. They won’t put up 49 points on Louisville defense…even if the game goes to eight quarters. The Cards defense prides itself on keeping opponent’s scores low…while waiting for the offense to finally breakout and put three touchdowns up in four quarters.

Even Syracuse writers are wishy-washy. From Christian Jackson, of the Syracuse Post-Standard:

“The accolades came rolling in for Jones, Graham, Nassib and the rest of the fellas after their win over WVU. After seeing all that Orange firepower, this week’s game against UofL should be cake too, right? I’m not buying it. Louisville 34, Syracuse 27.”

We admire Christian’s prognostication but if Louisville can muster 34 points in one game, Charlie Strong should take the entire team to Disney World. Let’s go half of that for this week’s prediction…Louisville 17, Syracuse 14. Chris Philpott with the game winner. Cards head to Morgantown 4-4 for another of those darn noon kickoffs…and maybe as the newest members of the Big 12?
