Vanderbilt will be the University of Louisville’s opponent in the Big East/SEC Basketball Challenge on Friday, Dec. 2 at the KFC Yum! Center.

The game is one of 12 matchups in the event that will be played on three nights on Dec. 1-3. All 12 SEC teams will face 12 BIG EAST opponents.  All games in the event will be televised by an ESPN network. 

Vanderbilt finished the 2010-11 campaign with a 23-11 record and will return all five starters and 10 letter winners from that team.  The Commodores are an early top ten selection for next season. Other games: 
  • Thursday, Dec. 1 — St. John’s at Kentucky, Providence at South Carolina, Georgetown at Alabama, Mississippi at DePaul.
  • Friday, Dec. 2 — Cincinnati at Georgia, Florida at Syracuse, Auburn at Seton Hall. 
  • Saturday, December 3 –Arkansas at Connecticut, LSU at Rutgers, Pittsburgh at Tennessee, West Virginia at Mississippi State.
