Charlie Campbell, a senior transfer from Virginia Tech, scored two goals Wednesday to lead the University of Louisville soccer team past Cincinnati 3-1 in the Queen City.

The score was tied 1-1 at the intermission.  Ken DeLeon punched one home for U of L at the 62:17 mark, followed by Campbell’s second goal 10 minutes later. The win improves U of L’s record to 9-0-2.

Cincinnati had dominated the first two decades of the series. But that was before Ken Lolla took over the Louisville reins three seasons ago. The Bearcats haven’t won since.

Ranked first, second and seventh in various college soccer polls, U of L returns home Saturday to meet Notre Dame at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Park. In the last meeting a year ago, Louisville lost to the Irish 4-3 in the semifinals of the Big East tournament. The game was decided by penalty kicks after the game was tied 0-0 tie after two overtime periods.
