The University of Louisville men’s program is tied for ninth place in the official fall standings for the first Capital One Cup, a new program recognizing Division I athletic programs for on-field success across all sports.

UofL earned 24 points when the soccer team made the national championship match. Akron, in third place, earned 40 points for winning the championship.

Auburn and Eastern Washington are currently tied for first place, each having earned 60 points for national championships in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), respectively. Points for the various sports are scaled by overall level of fan interest, hence the great number of points for football over soccer.

Interesting, three Big East schools in the top 10 among the men, TCU with 36 points for its BCS win,  and Villanova with 32 for its FCS runner-up finish.
