Righthanders Thomas Royse and Neil Holland held Connecticut to just four hits, while junior outfielder Drew Haynes provided the only RBI of the night as the seventh-ranked University of Louisville baseball team earned a 1-0 win Friday in front of a crowd of 2,532 at Jim Patterson Stadium.

  • Thirteen strikeouts for Royse and Holland is a season-high for the Louisville pitching staff, one better than the 12 they achieved in February against Michigan.
  • U of L improved to 5-0 in one-run games on the season with Friday’s win. The Cardinals were 14-8 in one-run games last season.

The teams meet again Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
