If Phil Wunderlich winds up being picked for this award, one would probably be looking back at a glorious finish for the University of Louisville baseball team.

The U of L third baseman is on the 30-player watch list for the 2010 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award, presented annually to the nation’s top college baseball player as part of the Major League All-Star baseball game festivities (July 13).

Despite having broken out of a recent batting slump, the Louisville junior still leads the Cards in hitting with a hefty .357 batting average, 20 home runs and 58 runs batted in.

Wind that time machine forward.

  1. Thanks for the profile, Charlie.
I hope he wins the Golden Spikes. Phil is really focused and seems to give 100% all the time. A fearless hitter. I certainly wouldn’t want to pitch to him.
