The limited edition Maker’s Mark bottles featuring University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong on the label will begin to ship the week of July 23rd, not the 20th as previously reported.

So the product will be arriving at Louisville-area liquor stores in limited quantities as part of Maker’s Mark’s regular delivery schedule. That means fans will have to keep checking with individual stores.

The bottles, black with red wax and a distinctive UofL tear strip, will be numbered and there will be approximately 8,500 of them.

U of L and Maker’s Mark are currently working on a special event which will enable owners to get their bottles signed by Strong. No official word from either source on the date, but keep Aug. 1 open.

  1. This looks like an absolute classic! Nevertheless, I would have loved for Charlie to be the first (as far as I know) person honored with a special Maker’s 46 bottle! Like Maker’s 46, Charlie is “bolder, more complex.” Also like Maker’s 46, Charlie has worked diligently at “eliminating the bitterness” in our community of aged Cardinal football fans.

If it can’t be Charlie on the first Maker’s 46 special bottle, how about Rick after his first UofL National Championship!?!
