[stextbox id=”black”]University of Connecticut football player Jasper Howard died early Sunday from an on-campus stabbing following UConn’s win over Louisville Saturday. The 5-foot-9, 174-pound Howard had 11 tackles and a fumble recovery in the game. The 20-year-old was involved in a fight when the stabbing occurred at the student union in the center of the campus. The assailant is still at large. The school has issued an emergency alert on its Web site.[/stextbox]

  1. How horrible. My heart goes out to his family and friends. So sad; too young to go. We will pray for his family and teammates during this difficult time.

  2. This is a sad end to this kid’s life. Violence in Connecticut is getting
    out of hand; mostly in the inner city, but still, there is no reason that the
    uconn community should be preparing for his burial right now. This is just terrible
    and my prayers go out to his family.
