Stephan Van Treese is feeling no pain, he’s ready to go.

The rambling 6-foot-8, 235-pound junior will never be selected as player of the week or earn honorable mention honors on an all-conference team. We would really be in desperate straits were Van Treese ever in a University of Louisville starting lineup.

What Van Treese brings to the game is tons of energy, not always focused, predictable or under control. Like most Hoosiers, he lives for the game of basketball, and his spirit is contagious. He’s sometimes a loose cannon, running over and through people, sometimes his own teammates. Fun to watch and funny as well, always a welcome sight because he brings it every game.

Were there to be an all-time favorite UofL bench team selected, however, Van Treese could well be the most valuable player, inspiring players like Marty Pullium, Greg Deuser, Daryl Cleveland, Robbie Valentine and Brad Gianiny.

Nice to see him back. Something to look forward to again.
