University of Louisville verbal Peyton Siva scored 29 points as Franklin’s boys basketball team beat Jeffersontown 72-55 on Tuesday in the championship game of the King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic. He was the hands-down pick as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

The Quakers, from Seattle, Wash., became only the sixth out-of-state team to win the tournament and the first since Berkshire of Homestead, Fla., in 1999. Franklin (7-0) won all four of its games in the 16-team event, three against Louisville opponents.

Monday night, he had 32 points, 10 assists and no turnovers in a 91-88 semifinal victory over Coral Reef of Miami. In the title game, he shot 9 of 14 from the field and 11 of 13 at the free-throw line, with three rebounds, three steals and two assists. Siva made 28 of 31 free throws in the final two games.

Although he’s only 5-foot-11, Siva does it all: Check out some file footage:

  1. During Franklin’s (Siva’s) first game in the KOB Dale Mabrey, the long time PRP coach, sat behind us and said that with his vision and feel for the game Siva can do just about anything he wants out there. But he does a great job staying within the team concept. Hello Edgar! Listening?

  2. Merry Christmas Frank, to you and your loved ones!

I wanted a new football coach for Christmas, but Santa got lost, and dropped him off at Eastern Michigan……..

  3. Merry XMAS, Frankie! Paul wore the “Hell in the Hall” T-Shirt to a recent game and got some nice comments, and a few stares. Hope your holidays are going well, so far. GO CARDS!

  4. I remember we got some bad “handler” info on Bassy, and I think Rondo was a bit miffed that we were paying so much attention to Bassy. I did talk briefly to a friend who is a big Siva fan and got to see him play agaisnt Coral. he confirms that Siva is a true point guard but has the ability to shoot and drive. Sounds good to me. Also says that there is a guard on the Coral team that will be turning heads in college. I guess we’ll find out tomorrow about the changes Rick has deemed necessary for the Cards and who will fit where. “Pitino spin” always brightens up a holiday, doesn’t it?

  5. Peyton looks really good, and I have been so excited since he decided to commit.

Peyton looks like he plays in HS, the way Sosa should be playing as a JR in college.

Our team would be so much better with a PG who would pass the ball 1st, and think about shooting 2nd. I love Sosa, but damn that “me, me, me, score, score, score” mentality gets me hot.

This is not the AND 1 Tour. Louisville is TEAM basketball.

Thank God McGee is trying to do his best…..

Let’s see if Edgar wants to play “shooting guard” from the PG position against UAB and Mike Davis, or if he is going to actually play the point, and try to run the offense and try to make the ENTIRE team better.

As of now, Sosa has a “shooting guard” 2 spot mentality, playing the “point guard” 1 spot……..

To see an actual point guard at work, look at ANY game Rajon Rondo out of Eastern HS plays for the Celtics.

Why we passed on Rondo to go after Telfair still baffles me to this day…..
