Don’t let this slip up on you:

The University of Louisville football team’s 2010 Kickoff Luncheon will be Tuesday, Aug. 17 at Noon in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Louisville Downtown.

Good opportunity to meet players, many seated with fans. Got to know defensive tackle Tim High from Compton, Cal., last year.

Tickets are $35 each. Call 852-2015.

Two all-time U of L fan favorites — Andre McGee and Stefan LeFors — will be special guests at a free picnic lunch sponsored by the Eye Care Institute on Tuesday, July 20th at Noon, at 1536 Story Avenue in Butchertown.

Say hello to Andre and Stefan, maybe win some door prizes as well. RSVP at lasik@eyecareinstitute.com.

D. J. Shoemate, a 6-foot, 225-pound fullback, is the latest to transfer from USC (Southern California) since NCAA sanctions were announced. He’s headed to UConn with two seasons of eligibility.

According to Scout.com, Shoemate came out of high school as the eighth-ranked wide receiver with a five-star rating. Motivation for transferring to Connecticut was to play tailback. [/stextbox]

Basketball is for people who can’t understand football. Get that round ball out of here.

Basketball is a great sport but, admit it, people who only follow basketball are not cool. Not quite a girly thing but pretty close to it.
