Ryan Wright is gone but probably not for long

The mainstay of this season’s University of Louisville baseball team has signed with the Cincinnati Reds. He led Louisville in virtually every offensive category including batting average (.346), home runs (12), RBI (52), stolen bases (16), hits (81), slugging (.598), walks (33), OPB (.426), and doubles (15).

Wright was picked in the fifth round of this year’s Major League Baseball draft by the Cincinnati organization, which he says has always been his favorite team.

Not good for U of L baseball, which had more than its share of hitting challenges this year. But good that he will be back in town someday soon, performing for the Louisville Bats at Slugger Field.
