Things have been kind of quiet around University of Louisville basketball for a couple of days. A long time if you know what I mean.

A Boston newspaper is reporting that newly hired assistant coach Richard Pitino may be a candidate for the head coaching position at Boston University. He would succeed Patrick Chambers who left this week to coach Penn State.

Just a name on a speculative list right now but Pitino was reportedly in the mix when Boston U was looking for a coach two seasons ago. The Pitino family has significant ties to the community and the job would be a nice first head coaching position. Papa Rick will have mixed feelings for sure with this one.

Another name on the list is former U of L assistant Walter McCarty, currently on the staff of the Indiana Pacers.

  1. Good question, CB. Possibly strongest test of the contract right off the bat, huh?

  2. So how does this square with the new assistants having to guarantee to stay two years?
