[stextbox id=”custom”]Waaaay too long between football seasons.

Has any fan base ever been so overconfident? No respect at all for Indiana State.

Toss the lawn chair back in the trunk, clean up the leftovers, the extra crispy fried chicken, potato salad, brownies. Ambulate through the Green Lot, check out all the other tailgaters, the Louisville football flags, the all-U of L crowd.

[quote]

Reclaim the chairback another season, the view from the five-yard line. Order the observer a large Pepsi, peanuts, maybe some popcorn, possibly nachos, all overpriced, but indispensible. The Pepsi will get knocked over. Count on it and be happy it’s not beer.

Predictions way over the top, 50, 60, 70, even 80 points forecast by some fans. Anything less than an all-out blowout will be a huge disappointment for most, a harbinger of much worse to come for others.

It’s a beginning of some sort, possibly the beginning of the end for some, or maybe, just maybe, the first tiny step on a long road back to respectability.

Time again for Louisville football. Bring it on.[/stextbox]
