National Letter of Intent Day is February 5th for college football prospects, and Bobby Petrino has said he is bringing back the signing day party for University of Louisville fans.

Never understood why Charlie Strong didn’t host the parties. There were at least two, maybe three, unofficial events around town. He even made appearances at them, as did some of his recruits.

Just didn’t want to host a party, bypassing a tradition of at least a couple of decades.

The UofL baseball team will open the 2014 season Feb. 14-16 in a tournament hosted by The Citadel at Charleston, S.C.

Opponents, in order, will be West Virginia, The Citadel and Delaware.

Righthanded pitcher Nick Burdi, meanwhile, has been picked as a first team preseason All America by Perfect Game. He got similar accolades from Collegiate Baseball newspaper and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. He had 16 saves last season.

The UofL baseball team was ranked eighth in the nation in the preseason poll released by Collegiate Baseball.
