This is how Louisville’s Bilal Powell appeared to UConn’s defensive unit in rushing for 105 yards in UofL’s 26-0 win Saturday at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. He now has 1,003 yards this season on 142 carries, averaging 7.06 yards per try. (Photos by Menefee Seay.)

Doug Beaumont and Adam Froman flash the L sign as they watch the clock count down on Louisville’s first Big East Conference win this season. Beaumont scored one touchdown on a 79-yard punt return and had another long one called back. Froman completed 18 of 30 passes for 130 yards, including a two-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Graham.

  1. There’s one positive we can take from the Kragthorpe era, and that is don’t take winning for granted, because it’s not as easy as coach petrino made it looked.Great win against UCONN. BEAT PITT.

  2. I never dreamed before the season I’d say this, but the one remaining game I’m the most worried about is Syracuse. The Orange’s win in Morgantown got my attention.

  3. I’ll chime in and say I am having a great time watching the Cards play football. We don’t always win, and we make more than our share of mistakes, but I absolutely love the energy with which they play. And we seem to be in every game until the end.

Coach Strong is making his mark on this team and he will have them playing their hearts out (or in CS talk “their butts off”). He has surrounded himself with a top-shelf coaching staff, and I believe the players sense this.

Luvin’ the Cards this year. I think we have at least two more “unexpected” victories left to unveil. Can hardly wait to see who they will be.

    1. Had a problem with the demon alcohol. Had to clear my system…so to speak. Glad to be myself again. Hope to post more.

  4. Surprising lack of enthusiasm over this win!?
Perhaps that is because it looks like the coaches have a lot of work yet to do. Lots of mental miscues and penalties–although the refs appeared at times to be making a demonstration tape at our expense.
Still-the skill levels were encouraging on both sides of the line. Looking like we’ll be trying to whip Rutgers for win six, as this commentator predicted preseason. Wish I had underestimated the Cards, though.
    Thoughts on the season, anyone?
