UofL silos 2

A solitary silo is all that remains from the historic demolition project on the University of Louisville campus where once there were 22 of the storage units that stood for over a century. Various companies provided hundreds of jobs for the production of products ranging from peanut butter and dog food to soy mixtures.

The silos were almost a community icon for motorists passing through Louisville , with the progression of time taking a toll on the structures. They also were a unique advertising vehicle for UofL for about 20 years, with Solae, the latest company, to occupy the site dressing them up with University of Louisville banners.

Their time has come and gone, however, taking with them what had become an eyesore. Their removal  opens up a new vista for UofL while underscoring the unprecedented positive changes occurring at the University.
