In a fourth quarter with one big shot after another, the University of Louisville women’s basketball team outmuscled Florida State 82-75 at Tallahassee. Morgan Jones, a transfer from FSU did much of the damage,  with 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cardinals.

Jones had an old fashioned three point play and Haley Van Lith rained in a high arching jump shot as the shot clock was winding down in the final minute. The junior guard scored 20 points, had eight rebounds and eight assists. Olivia Cochran added 13 points and had big baskets. She also had eight rebounds and four rebounds.

UofL scored the final five points of the game to secure the tightly played game. You could tell the teams didn’t care for each other as there was a lot talking, bumping and grinding.

“Just a great game, so happy for everyone,” said Coach Jeff Walz. “ I have to tip my cap to (Konno). She scored five points and had two rebounds and two assists. “We were a plus 15 when she’s in the game.”

“They tried to deny (Hailey) the ball,” said Walz. “Really proud she was patient. Morgan got a huge one-and-one for a three point play. We are getting better. Just really, really happy for the kids. They’ve been working really really hard.”

FSU shot 38 percent from the field while Louisville shot 54 percent.

“Morgan Jones, I’m really, really happy for her,” said Walz. “Happy for all of them. Boston College beat Florida State, NC State loses. You can’t get too high on the highs. Too lows on the lows.”
