What one remembers most about Monique Reid at the University of Louisville were the facial expressions and an ability to get to the basket.

monique reidA quiet demeanor overall with a shy smile most of the time. But there was also the determination on her face while attacking the glass and all those grimaces from numerous injuries.

She was content to play, never complaining about officiating,  calmly celebrating after big plays. She was, most of all, an efficient presence when not hampered by injury.

Monique is becoming the head basketball coach of the girls’ basketball team at Fern Creek High School, succeeding Rick Laemmle after one season. Mo played her high school basketball at FCHS.

Coaching tends to turn even nice, quiet players into Type A personalities. Can’t wait to see her new court side manner.

We wish her well.
