The jersey to watch is No. 29.

For the first time since he left four seasons ago, most University of Louisville football fans will have an opportunity to see Michael Bush as the featured running back for the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders take on the Chicago Bears on the local FOX channels (Insight 9, 12-11 or 910) at 4 p.m.

Not his first game at the starting running back, but the first time in convenient time spot. Not on a Sunday or Monday night, but on a Sunday afternoon. Not as a backup, not as a maybe, maybe not, but as the man. A long, long wait.

Bush was inserted into the lineup Oct. 23 after Darren McFadden injured a foot. McFadden is not expected to play Sunday but is working his way back into the starting role. We feel for him but we’d rather see Bush in that position.

Bush has carried the ball 139 times for 599 yards and five touchdowns this season. He’s averaging 4.3 yards per carry.

Hope he does well, even though it’s against the Bears.
