About nine years ago, we were celebrating UofL’s entry into the Big East, seems like yesterday.

This from Kenny Klein, sports information director:

The University of Louisville will celebrate its new membership in the Atlantic Coast Conference on the day it enters the league at a public event on Tuesday, July 1 at Fourth Street Live.

Screenshot 2014-06-12 15.48.39The free event will begin with live entertainment and video presentations at 5 p.m. with Louisville’s in-stadium DJ, K-Dogg, followed by a program at 6 p.m. The program will include special messages from Louisville coaches and student-athletes, fan giveaways, and plenty of surprises.

A concert featuring the Louisville Crashers will cap the celebration on the main stage following the program. There will be food and beverage specials at participating establishments in Fourth Street Live! surrounding the celebration.

ACC Commissioner John Swofford, UofL President Dr. James Ramsey, and Vice President/Director of Athletics Tom Jurich will be among those participating in the celebration. An 11 a.m. press conference that day will be streamed live by the ACC Digital Network at ACC.com.

Mascots from each of the 15 ACC institutions will be at the event, interacting with fans. The mascots will also visit with children at the U of L Autism Center that afternoon.

UofL accepted an invitation to join the Atlantic Coast Conference on Nov. 28, 2012.

  1. Absolutely love the novelty and graciousness of the current ACC members to send their mascots to this celebration.

ACC membership is going to be so huge, we can’t possibly get a full sense of it yet! Let’s jump in and let the manna materialize!
