Offensive linemen don’t get much exposure, the limelight typically evading them.

But Mario Benavides is not your typical lineman. He’s one of those players who actually lived up to his highlight reel, having started at center the past three seasons. He’s on the watch list this season for the Outland Trophy for the interior lineman and the Rimington Trophy for centers.

He’s back working out with the team this summer after missing spring camp due to an injury. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound senior is also well spoken, addressing the 2012 outlook for the Louisville football team:
