Cherry Picking The Net

Tournament organizers in Indianapolis said interest from Louisville has helped boost ticket sales. “We’ve sold more than 25,000 already,” said John Dedman of the Indiana Sports Corp. “We are taking calls from, we think, just about everybody down in Louisville, Kentucky and their cousin, and their brother. So we are really encouraged by the turnout from the four markets that are going to be represented here.” –WISH-TV, Indianapolis

“Normally in these pieces, we like to talk about the draw each team has, but in the Super 16, there isn’t much point to doing that. However, Louisville resides in that crazy Midwest Region, where something lower than a five-seed can make it to the second week. The mere presence of Arizona in this quarter of the bracket gives the Cards a modest boost to their title chances despite a lackluster performance in the first two rounds.” — Basketball Prospectus

Forward Terrence Williams reflected on his days as a newspaper delivery carrier and one of the best smiles in college basketball. Clearly, there’s no pressure in Louisville’s locker room.

“Even though it’s a serious game, you want to win, but you can still smile while playing hard, trying to win the game,” he said. “So I want to be the rare guy that smiles all the time.”– Arizona Star

“After two round and going into the Sweet 16, the Big East conference with Louisville, Connecticut, Pittsburgh, Syracuse Villanova have a strong field compared to other conferences like the Big 12, ACC and Big Ten. The debate between Big East and ACC can be put to rest now, because the only ACC teams left are North Carolina, who many are not sure if point guard Ty Lawson would play against Gonzaga, and Duke, a team making their first Sweet 16 appearance in three years.” — Jock Life

  1. That is the hope: We wear them down from tipoff to buzzer at the end of the game. Looking at the team stats, we are closer than I thought with one exception, we have TWill…..TWill TWill will rock you! Go CARDS!

  2. Great image of the Cardinal Bird in the convertible, and the Magical Mystery Tour is a great theme for this team. Who knows where this journey will lead us? Hopefully to the top!
