The KFC Yum! Center was designed with attracting NCAA basketball tournament action to Louisville. Problem is the University of Louisville can’t play on its home floor.

Cardinal Athletic Fund members have an opportunity to purchase up to eight all-session tickets before they go on sale to the general public. The sessions will be March 15 and 17, and will be hosted by the University of Louisville.

The offer was sent to CAF member e-mail addresses, and the request must be submitted from the individual’s e-mail address. The special offer is in effect only until April 30, 2011, or until all remaining tickets have been purchased, whichever comes first.

U of L won’t be playing but you may be able to sell them for a fortune to UK fans.

  1. I guess I forgot to mention the fact that I have no association with U of L. I’m just an average joe college basketball fan (from another state) researching NCAA tournament tickets for next year. I came to this website because I was trying to find info on 2012 ticket applications for Louisville. I was hoping that some of next year’s venues would have information posted on buying tickets…but I guess I’ll have to keep checking the NCAA’s site. Like I said, I may be starting too early.

  2. Thanks for the feedback, Charlie.

Every year around this time, the NCAA begins accepting applications for the general public to purchase NCAA tournament tickets for next year’s 1st and 2nd round games. After each venue gives season ticket holders a chance to buy tickets, the NCAA starts processing ticket applications for the general public. If they get more applications than available seats, they just pick the applications in a lottery.

I just can’t find any information on if/when they plan on doing this. Maybe it’s too early, because the only link at the NCAA has no info listed for any of the sites next year:

    http://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/2010-12-19/ticket-information

I think I must either be too early to buy tickets or the NCAA has changed the way they handle ticket sales for the 1st and 2nd rounds.

  3. I’m also wondering when 2012 NCAA Tournament tickets will go on sale to the general public. I went to ncaa.org and can’t find anything about buying tickets for Louisville. Usually the venue websites (like this one) have links to the ticket information?!?

If someone has a link to where the general public can submit an NCAA ticket application for Louisville 2012, please post it. Thanks!

  4. This probably means that a influx of “Blue” will invade the YUM next year. Hey, we invaded Rupp a couple of years ago for 1st and 2nd round action. $$$$ for the downtown businesses…if they’ll stick around or come early and eat, drink and be merry.

Women’s hoops has no such problem of excluding the home team from playing the first two rounds at home. Xavier at home tonight against Louisville, Tennessee, Penn State, Duke and UConn all enjoyed not having to bus or fly to opening round contests.

Hopefully, the NCAA will review and change this policy for men’s NCAA tournament hoops. Sending both Louisville and Morehead to Denver was just silly…they could have squared off in Rupp, at NKU or even the truck stop at Waddy-Peytona. And, the YUM was vacant last weekend. Lady Ga-Ga might have even stuck around to watch…

  5. Can you please tell me when tickets for the 2012,NCAA tourney games at the YUM center will go on sale to the general public? Thank you
