Congratulations to University of Louisville fan Steve Springer who made the Final Four of Volvo’s “Biggest Fan of the Big East” contest in the six-month competition which comes to an end on Tuesday. The word from Volvo:

Steve Springer

“After much review and crunching the numbers, we have confirmed our FINAL FOUR. Congratulations to Dan Murphy, Dave Krupinski, Laurel Mills and Steve Springer.

“Your outstanding posts both within the Volvo challenges and on your own and great showings in the Fan Poll and your alma mater weekend recaps put you at the very top. You were able to engage your followings to get behind you and help get you into this final round.”

Murphy is representing Notre Dame, Krupinski St. John’s and Mills Georgetown.

No matter how this thing turns out, Steve has made family and fans proud.

  1. Just did a Google search for “Biggest Fan of the Big East” and Steve’s posts on this site seem to dominate. Even a couple of videos. Wonder if they consider Google results?

  2. I just have to chime in here because I’ve become a fan of Steve’s during this marathon. I love the sincerity that comes through in his posts. He needed the votes and comments but he didn’t kiss anybody’s butt/bumper in the process. Like someone said above, he focused on the Big East and Louisville basketball tradition while projecting a good image for Volvo. His approach added value for everyone involved.

  3. It would really be fantastic if you were to win, Steve. There’s no one more deserving. Even if it doesn’t happen, you have represented UofL very well. Go Cards.

  4. What I liked about your posts was that you wove Big East and Louisville basketball into them, keeping them on the Big Fan theme while also managing to promote Volvo. It was a difficult challenge and you handled it well, keeping the fan theme of the contest first and foremost for the six-month duration of the contest. We look forward to some of your insights as NCAA tournament time comes around.

  5. Well done, Steve. Very interesting following your experiences and reliving some of my own days at U of L through your postings. Good luck and prayers for your family.
