The fun part about this University of Louisville baseball team is that one never knows who will come through next.

This time it was Stewart Ijames with a two-run home run over the left field fence in the 11th inning, giving the University of Louisville baseball team new life and a 9-7 win over South Florida. The blast came against South Florida stopper Kevin Quackenbush who had allowed only one hit in six previous innings.

“We don’t have them all clicking right now but we have enough to get it done,” said Dan McDonnell. “I felt real good with Stewart walking to the plate.”

Ijames, a lefthanded batter, said he had had problems hitting to the opposite field this season. The wind was blowing out to the left field fence and Stewart gave it a ride, driving in two runs.

“In extra innings, you’re not trying to hit a home run,” he said. “You’re just trying to keep the ball in play. To hit one to the opposite field tonight was special.”

Phil Wunderlich  is making waves again, collecting four hits, including a home run.

    1. We were listening in our car /in the garage on XM for most of the games…..203 is the BE station on XM but when we signed up for on-line listening we were told 203 wasn’t included…so back out to the car we went for the most part…go CARDS!

  1. Great win for the CARDIAC CARDS! Had to get updates from fans down at the game since our EMBARRASSING BROADCAST STATION AM-1570 LEFT THE AIRWAVES during the rain delay. What an exiciting game NOT TO HEAR!!! Let’s hope the AM-1570 hamsters don’t get too tired this afternoon and can run that wheelfaster so we can listen today!! GO CARDS! BEAT THE JOHNNIES!!!!

  2. Are we having fun yet? Between the later-than-should- be allowed start times for our games, the rain delay and the poor radio reception, Tom and I are crazed at this point. Great win for our Cardinals last night; looking forward to 1:00 this afternoon (yeah, right – probably won’t get started until 2 or 3……) Go CARDS, we need to pound STJ’s all day today……………………
