After a first round win, a level of tranquility quickly falls over the observer’s house, the occupants elated about the prospects of surviving and advancing another round.

But it’s going to be a busy time with kids and grandkids coming up for the weekend. Plus, a Saturday funeral adding to the agenda, the anxiety of waiting for second round TV schedules to be announced.

So thanks to CBS and the NCAA for a late night start time (9:40 p.m.) for the University of Louisville’s second round basketball game against New Mexico. A mid-afternoon game would have been less from ideal.

The observer will never win any congeniality awards during a U of L game in which there’s so much at stake. Well, during any UofL game to be honest. It’s a defensive mold, an incurable condition.dating back to the days of being surrounded by UK fans in a children’s home in Central Kentucky. Thankfully the institution waited until after the observer left to paint the school bus blue and plaster it with Wildcat logos.

Children and loved ones expect and deserve all the time and attention one can give them. Thanks again CBS and whoever created the Pacific Coast time zone.

  1. Also permits one to attend the Palace’s Pink Floyd Experience with his family (wife, daughter, son and son’s girlfriend) and only miss, at worst, the first half. Love those DVR’s, too. Pink to Infrared…a spectral transition I think I can handle.

Thank goodness basketball will be over when Roger Waters floats into the YUM! in June!

  2. A good reason, this start time, to stay home and avoid “amateur night” in the local establishments on St. Patrick’s Day.

Siva loves Portland. Portland loves Siva. Gorgui loves to foul and Joanie loves Chachi. Get it done, red and black.

The UofL women begin play today also. At 1:30 on ESPN 2 against Michigan State. Time to sit down, Spartie.
